Flat Tops Trail – Day 4

On day four into our trip to Colorado the great weather we had been having finally ran out.  We set out this morning in the rain to drive the Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway between Meeker and Yampa, CO.  The temperature dropped from 55 at Glenwood Springs to 34 at Ripple Creek Pass where the rain changed to snow.  About mid-morning the clouds broke for a few minutes and I was able to get off a few shots.  Since the sky was heavily overcast, I kept my eye out for opportunities to capture some aspen color with a nice composition that did not include the dark sky.  Here’s one that caught my eye even though it is a bit dark. I’ll tweak curves to brighten it up in PS later. I’m also going to have to clone out that blade of grass on the greay horse in the lower left. :-)
